The BT Periotomes set features a design that includes three handles and four interchangeable flexible blades.
- The smaller handle is specifically designed for extracting incisor and canine teeth.
- The medium handle is intended for the extraction of wolf teeth.
- The long handle is used to extract cheek teeth.
Periotomes are the first instrument used to access the gums during intraoral extraction. They are initially inserted into the gingival sulcus to separate the marginal gingiva from the tooth's clinical crown. They are subsequently inserted between the reserve crown and the alveolar bone to disrupt the periodontal ligaments.
The blades' flexibility enables the surgeon to reach apical regions that may be deformed by hypercementosis or odontoclastic resorption lesions caused by chronic apical infections, thereby minimizing the risk of blade breakage.
To use the blades effectively, they should be inserted in an apical direction, avoiding lateral movements in a buccolingual direction.
Features:
- Thin, curved, and flexible blades for enhanced access
- Sharp tips for precise cutting
- Ergonomic handles for a comfortable grip
